Sacha spent her childhood rolling around the hills of Ireland. When she moved to Victoria, she found herself in awe of the stark contrast in natural scenery from what she’d known before – most impressed by the towering trees and thick temperate rainforest. She quickly took advantage of all the West Coast has to offer, throwing herself into surfing, caving, climbing, foraging, and tide pooling. The more time she spent outside, the keener she became to understand the ecosystems she plays in and what she can do to protect them.
Following this passion, Sacha is currently pursuing a degree in Forest Biology, as well as Geographical Information Technology. She is particularly interested in the uses of GIS in the fields of ecology and conservation biology. Most importantly, she hopes to share her love of the West Coast with others and to promote land stewardship.
Having made many trips to Tofino over the years, Sacha is excited to join the Raincoast team and spend the summer immersing herself in all that Clayoquot sound has to offer. She is eager to create a space that fosters learning and fulfillment. In her free time you can catch her out (hopefully) catching waves, poking around for berries, or reading and crafting out at Incinerator Rock, be sure to say hi!
