The Raincoast Education Society is excited to offer three summer camps this summer for children aged 8-12 years old! Summer Camps run from 1 pm – 4 pm and campers meet at the RES office in the Tofino Botanical Gardens.
We also offered Young Naturalist Programs throughout the summer for children aged 3 - 6 years old.
Raincoast Young Inventors Camp
July 7th – 11th, 2014
The Raincoast Young Inventors is a camp where imaginations run wild and discovery is the name of the game. You will be presented with the opportunity to create something new during the week though hands on learning. This camp encourages teamwork, creative problem solving, and inventive thinking. You can work alone on your inventions or in partners. You may have to work on your inventions at home to have them ready in time for the Invention Convention at the end of this week’s camp. Please bring a re-usable water bottle to the camp.
Raincoast Wilderness Camp
July 28th – Aug 1st
During this camp you will learn how to lead and support your friends in the outdoors. You will develop your wilderness skills and learn hands-on activities for survival in the bush. This camp is an overnight camp so you must be able to bring your own camping supplies or be able to borrow them. You must have your own tents, sleeping mats, sleeping, bags, headlamps (or flashlights), for this camp. Please also bring appropriate clothing - warm wool clothing at night (no cotton please) and jackets for this camp are recommended. Good shoes (hiking boots or hiking shoes) are also a must. Please don't bring converse running shoes or shoes without good traction. Camping location will be disclosed soon! This camp starts on July 28th at 1 pm and finishes on July 31st at 4 pm.

Raincoast Navigation Camp
August 11th – August 15th
During this camp you will learn orienteering, navigational & directional skills in order to find a daily treasure. Each day we will leave the Raincoast Education Society office in search of our treasure which is hidden somewhere in Tofino. In addition to learning navigational skills you will also learn how to look for clues in the natural world as a way to mark a trail and find out where you need to go. Please bring comfortable shoes and a re-fillable water bottle.
