Gisele Maria Martin is a citizen of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation on the west coast of Vancouver Island. She is a Nuu-chah-nulth language and culture activist, educator and artist.
Gisele connects with youth and adults throughout the Clayoquot region, running Yucḥap Panač – cultural outdoor field trips, ƛaʔuukʷiʔatḥ / Tla-o-qui-aht Language classes for communities & public schools, cultural workshops (seaweed gardens, traditional shell trade and history) in schools, and climate change traditional food security workshops in ƛaʔuukʷiʔatḥ / Tla-o-qui-aht and Ahousaht. She also teaches the Nuučaanuł /Nuu-chah-nulth Lands and Waters course for the Tofino Ambassador Program.
