Sylvia O’Brien

Program Coordinator

Sylvia O’Brien is a third-year student at University of Victoria for a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Environmental studies.
Sylvia grew up in Tofino, creating her strong love of the outdoors and deep knowledge of the local area. Her passion for the health of the local ecosystem was sparked from volunteering with the local chapter of Surfrider. She has a special interest with the local marine biome after spending her past summers as Marine Captain at Ocean Outfitters. She has also taught kids in after school classes and is excited to take the learning outdoors. She spends most of her free time on the coast outdoors hiking, boating, camping, and continuing to educate herself on the local ecosystem. She is very excited to spend a summer as a Raincoast Student intern to continue learning, to teach others and to hopefully spark people’s love for the local ecosystem.
