Hailing from the South Island, Tami’s appreciation for the local flora and fauna began early. Tami spent much of her childhood witnessing the annual salmon runs in Goldstream National Park, and spent her weekends with her maritime father overlooking the Salish Sea and tidepools. These were catalysts to a life-long curiosity about nature and it’s history.
Moving to Tofino in the fall of 2014, the decision to stay and to keep coming back was hugely influenced by the unique terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems found in both Clayoquot and Barkley Sound. This introduction was only overshadowed only by the ancient and fascinating communities nestled there.
In her working life, Tami’s job and volunteer opportunities have ranged from hospitality, to healthcare, to tourism, to retail, to conservation, to finally choosing the non-profit sector. Her hobbies include illustration and photography, and her passions are in education and sustainability. Always learning, Tami is excited to start this new chapter as a part of the RES team!
