Bats, Bats, Bats!

Today Mrs. Thompson’s grade 1-2 class headed into the school field to learn all about Bats! We focused first on categorizing a bat- do you think a bat is more closely related to a mouse or a bird? Turns out bats are more related to humans than other animals! The students tried to flap their bat wings as fast as they could but sadly no one took flight. We ended the lesson learning how bats use echolocation and their sense of smell to maneuver about. The students then were challenged with a hide and seek game as mother bats searched for their babies via sound.
