Adult Education

We believe that healthy ecosystems and healthy communities are interconnected and that knowledge is the bond that strengthens that connection. It is with that in mind that we have made it our goal to ensure that residents of the West Coast have the knowledge needed to act responsibly and serve as stewards of our land, air and water. Conservation is our goal, education is our tool.

Our programs take an informal approach to education and bring people of all ages out on the land and the water to learn about, appreciate, and be inspired by the natural world through immersion; only through getting our hands dirty and our feet wet will we truly understand what makes this place so special.

Raincoast Institute Courses

The Raincoast Institute offers high-quality continuing education courses that inspire adults and young adults to connect with natural ecosystems. Rooted in the Nuu-chah-nulth philosophy of Hishuk-ish-tsawalk (everything is connected/everything is one), our courses provide opportunities to study natural ecosystems from a holistic perspective, and to engage with specific ecological components through hands-on, outdoor-based learning.

Raincoast Speaker Series

The Raincoast Speaker Series is a long-running social and educational phenomenon! Each winter season, we invite the community to brave the rain and join a panel of experts for in-depth discussions about locally, regionally, and globally relevant issues.

West Coast Ambassador Program

Building on the success of the Tofino Ambassador Program, the West Coast Ambassador Program aims to build a strong and healthy community, encouraging a positive attitude among responsible citizens, improving community relations with visitors, and growing support for the diversity and well-being of area businesses in both Ucluelet and Tofino.
