Building Bat Boxes
Continuing on with our bats lesson, the students loaded onto the brand new Raincoast bus and headed to the Tofino Botanical Gardens. We searched far and wide in hopes to find the perfect bat habitat. The students kept their eyes peeled for dark, protected, areas with good flyways near water- all features bats love! After our bat habitat hunt the students turned into young carpenters practicing their skills with a hammer and nails. Dividing into groups, Mrs. Thompson’s class constructed 4 bat boxes to be put up in the gardens. We hope the bats of our area love their new homes! Nice work crew.
