We host several festival throughout the year: the Tofino Shorebird Festival, the Tofino Lantern Festival and the Raincoast Re-Skilling Festivals. Please see details about specific festivals below.  

Tofino Shorebird Festival

Every year from late April through May, flocks of sandpipers, plovers, whimbrels, and many other shorebirds pass through the Tofino area. Thousands stop here to feed and rest as they make their impressive journey from South and Central America northward to their Arctic breeding grounds.

Tofino Lantern Festival

The Tofino Lantern Festival is our 'signature' community event and fundraiser, drawing the young and old with an unbelievable variety of hand made lanterns. The Tofino Lantern Festival was born in 2001 and since then has grown to feature local musicians and artists and includes a ‘permanent collection’ of locally-created West Coast lanterns.

Raincoast Re-Skilling Festival

The Raincoast Re-Skilling Festival is designed to provide local residents with the skills to begin the transition away from a globalized, fossil-fuel dependent community towards a more localized, self-reliant community. The Raincoast Re-Skilling Festival provides a space to share knowledge about specific skill-sets and to highlight individuals, organizations, and businesses in our communities that have teachable and important skills.
