2016 Raincoast Speaker Series

The 2016 Raincoast Speaker Series is focused on the Old-Growth Forests of Clayoquot Sound.

Clayoquot Sound is home to the largest tracts of Old-Growth Coastal Temperate Rainforest on Vancouver Island, and some of the last remaining in the world. These forests represent a rich history of conservation and stewardship, conflict and negotiation, and ever evolving land use planning.

This speaker series explored traditional and contemporary perspectives on Old-Growth Forests, from
cultural, ecological, social and economic values, to the frameworks that regulate, legislate and manage these ancient lands.

The future of these forests is being decided today. Please join the conversation.

Speaker events featured two, back-to-back 15-minute presentations, followed by a moderated discussion.
