Coastal Rainforest Ecology in Tofino

This apx. 2 hour outdoor course focuses on our coastal temperate rainforest. From the forest floor to the top of the canopy, you will explore the many interactions that make up the fabric of this iconic habitat. Join us to discover the dynamic nature of old-growth forests!

About Your Interpreter:: Dr. Estelle Arbellay is an ecologist who spent more than a decade reading the tree-ring diaries of forests across the globe. She is the author of a dozen scholarly papers on Environmental History. Trees have shared many secrets with her, from how wildfires affected them to how salmon provided nutrients to help them grow. Today, Estelle is an interpretive guide-storyteller with Parks Canada and the Raincoast Education Society.
The West Coast Ambassador Program is a joint initiative of the Raincoast Education Society, Tourism Ucluelet and Tourism Tofino. The Raincoast Education Society is responsible for course curriculum, registration, and program delivery.
